With the merger of US Airways and American Airlines recently announced, the US Airways Credit Card from Barclays will become AAdvantage Aviator Red Credit Card.  The new credit card’s issuer will still be Barclays Bank.

The benefits are basically the same.  Instead of earning 2X miles on US Airways, you now earn 2X miles for every dollar spent on eligible American Airlines and US Airlines purchases and earn 1X miles on all other purchases.  You get first check bag free for you and up to 4 companions on domestic US Airways and American Airlines operated flights.  Priority boarding on both US Airways and American Airlines.

The new card will be issued in the summer of 2015.
